Every 2 Hour Diet

This is my own personal diet. I’m going to lose weight and gain control of my bad eating habits once and for all with this little trick. So far so good. The first few days are hard, but once you get the hang of it, it really starts getting quite easy.

The main goals of the diet are:

  • keep from getting hungry
  • keep blood sugar level
  • keep calories low
  • cut out cravings

Here are the main rules of the diet:

  • eat every 2 hours
  • eat between 150 calories at each most meals
  • breakfast, lunch and dinner can from 150-400 calories
  • you can eat whatever you want at these meals, but you’ll feel better and have more energy if you eat healthy foods.

Some of my favorite foods for this diet:

  • cheese (low fat)
  • yogurt (low fat, sharp)
  • cereal (high fiber, low fat milk)
  • half sandwich (turkey, chicken)
  •  fruit or veggies
  • oatmeal or cream of rice

How to Add Healthy Eating To the Vegetarian Diet

Published by lroeder under All Posts, Diets Edit This

I’ve never personally tried the vegetarian diet, so I can’t tell you if you can lose weight on it from first hand experience, but I can tell you a few things I know about it. It may be healthy to eat all those fruits and veggies, but not if that’s all you eat.

You need the four basic food groups, I don’t think they teach this one to kids anymore, so I’m going to touch on it here. There’s, of course, the fruit/veggie group. Then there’s the meat/protein group, the bread/starch group, and the milk/dairy group. You need all of these groups in your diet to be healthy.

If you cut all the meat out of your diet, you’re missing a whole food group. If you also cut dairy out of your diet, because it comes from animals, you’re now missing an whole other food group. You need to replace these food groups some how. You still need the vitamins, minerals and proteins that they provide.

Replace the missed vitamins and minerals with iron rich foods and vitamin C rich foods. Then replace your protein with beans or soy foods at every meal.

Alli, Does It Work?

Published by lroeder under All Posts, Diets Edit This

Alli is the over the counter form of the diet drug Xenical. Xenical has been prescribed to people for many years and is fairly safe, that’s why they decided to make it over the counter. It does have some rather unwelcome side effects though.

I was on Xenical several years ago, so I know. I even went to a totally non-fat diet and still had the side effect that it’s popular for. They say   you’ll only have the side effect if you’re eating too much fat, that’s not the case for everyone, like me.

In case you’re wondering what the unwelcome side effect I’m talking about is, I’ll tell you. If you’re the squeamish type, don’t read any further.

There’s an oily discharge that comes out your, well, your but. It’s really gross and can happen at any time. You think you’re going to pass gas, then suddenly, squish, and it stinks too. In my case I ended up having to wear a maxi pad all the time.

On the other hand, some people don’t get any side effects from it, or so I’m told. I did lose weight, but probably more from going on a fat free diet than from the Xenical.

Alli is a milder form though. About half the dose I was taking. I don’t know if they changed the formula before putting it out on the shelves, I hope so.

Lose That Bloated Feeling

Published by lroeder under All Posts, Diets Edit This

Even if you can’t lose 10 pounds by the end of the week, you can feel like you did. Here are a couple tricks to make you feel 10 pounds lighter by next week.

- Trade White for Whole Grain: Whether it be white bread, white rice, pasta or pizza you can make a trade off pretty easily. Just eat the whole grain alternatives instead. When you eat the white variety it absorbs itself some water. Before you know it, you’re bloated.

- Eat Small: Eating a big meal before an important event will just make you feel like your stomach is sticking right out in front of you. Eat a smaller meal instead.

-  Watch the Salt: Too much of the stuff can make you retain water, in your stomach of all places.

-  Drink More: Water that is. Drink 8 - 10 8oz glasses a day to stay hydrated. This will help your food digest faster and keep it from piling up where it doesn’t belong.

Eat the French Way

“the French report that only about 11% of people there are obese” ~The French diet connection

Have you ever noticed that French people are thin? They believe that it’s not what they eat so much as it’s how they eat. “French women eat with all five senses”, says  Mireille Guiliano. She describes the way the French eat as very slow and extremely enjoyable.

Let’s give this a try, then everyone post here to let us know how it works for you. Let me know if you’ve lost weight of size in those weeks.

For the next couple weeks try to eat really slow. Before you even take a bite of your food, look at it, smell it, imagine eating it. Then take a small bite and let it sit on your tongue for a second before starting to chew. Chew slowly tasting every nuance of the flavor. Put your food or fork down between bites and just concentrate on the food you’re eating.

NutriSystem Diet

Published by lroeder under All Posts, Diets Edit This

This one works. I did NutriSystem last summer and lost 20 pounds in one month. Diets usually don’t work for me, but this was so easy to do, it was easy to follow and stick with.

If you want to give NutriSystem a try to their website and place an order for their food. That’s the only cost to the diet is food. There’s no sign up fee or monthly charge, just food. There is a charge for shipping though.

Choose the breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks you want them to send to you. The food is shipped right away so you get in within a few days. It’s all vacuum sealed or dried so you don’t even have to find room in the refrigerator for it.

Read the directions for the diet when it comes and start right away. Just choose one breakfast, lunch dinner and snack to eat each day. Combine that with fruits and veggies and you have yourself a new way of eating that is perfectly portion controlled for you. No thinking or calorie counting, just eating.

The Atkin’s Diet

Published by lroeder under All Posts, Diets Edit This

Atkin’s really does work, that is if you can stand to eat nothing but protein based foods and skip the carbs. For the first part of the diet you are required to eat next to nothing in carbs. That limits the foods you can eat a lot.

There are many cookbooks about how to eat a low carb diet and the recipes are really good. If you want to give this diet a try, I suggest you purchase one of these books. Once you’re off carbs for a few days you’ll probably already notice a loss in weight. Most people lose weight quickly on this diet.

The second part of the diet lets you have some carbs, but only a certain kind and a very limited amount. You’ll continue to lose weight on this part of the diet too. The third part of the diet allows more carbs but you may never eat bread again. This part of the diet is for maintaining your weight.

My Favorite Diet

Published by lroeder under All Posts, Diets Edit This

Here’s the diet that I follow when I need to lose weight. Very little calorie counting involved.

Breakfast:
1 serving of high fiber, high protein cereal with a cup of tea. 1 serving of fruit or dried fruit.
Snack: 1 low calorie yogurt with a cup of tea
Lunch: Meal that includes 1 serving of protein with 1 serving of starch (total under 300 cal). 1 once of cheese. Add a salad to that with low calorie dressing and you’re full. Also a diet Pepsi.
Snack: 1 serving of dried fruit or real fruit, 1 low calorie yogurt and a cup of tea.
Dinner: Meal that includes 1 serving of protein with 1 serving of starch (total under 300 cal), can add a little butter with that, a little. 2 veggies. Low calorie fruit juice.
Dessert: Something sweet (under 150 cal) with a cup of tea.
